Billy Sickles earned the MLU Innova Pulsar Throw of the Week for Week 7 after a great backhand huck up the sideline to hit Himalaya Mehta in full stride for the goal.
“We were throwing similar deep shots in warm-ups so I knew the wind was making the disc float more than usual. I knew the disc would kind of sit there and I trust his speed against anyone in the league, so I really put it out in front. He did a great job of tracking it down,” said Sickles.
Sickles is a strong favorite for the MLU Rookie of the Year in the Eastern Conference. It is no surprise that he received this award for Week 7. Sickles has a season total of 27 points with eight goals, 19 assists and a 97 percent completion rate.[bc width=”628px” height=”360″]http://tv.mlultimate.com/detail/videos/2015-plays-of-the-week/video/4275991045001/2015-week-7—innova-pulsar-throw-of-the-week[/bc]
With 8:10 left in the second quarter, Sickles made an excellent in-cut to receive the disc before looking deep to Mehta in the end zone.
“The play was drawn up where Himalaya was my primary option downfield, so I knew he was going to be open under at least,” said Sickles. “When I saw he had a couple steps of separation deep, I knew if I put it out to space that he would run onto it.”
The Spinners never looked back from there, beating the New York Rumble 25-10.
Sickles and the rest of the Spinners take on the D.C. Current this week at Marple Newtown High School in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania on June 6. First pull is set for 6:30 p.m.
